Kato Lubwama Valued Discipline Over Drama, Says Rebecca Jjingo

Veteran singer Rebecca Jjingo has dismissed long standing claims that the late Kato Lubwama encouraged romantic relationships among artists in his renowned Diamond Production troupe.

Speaking during an interview on the Shalom 256 YouTube channel, Jjingo strongly rejected allegations that Lubwama paired performers together for publicity or drama. She insisted the former Rubaga South MP maintained strict professional boundaries within the group and discouraged artists from becoming romantically involved with one another.

According to her, Lubwama believed personal relationships could easily disrupt performances and create unnecessary tension within the production. He often warned that disagreements between couples could affect rehearsals or even lead to artists refusing to perform, ultimately damaging the quality of shows he worked hard to build.

Jjingo explained that his priority was discipline, focus, and delivering high quality stage productions rather than entertainment gossip. She emphasized that protecting professionalism within the group was central to his leadership style and success.

Her remarks challenge years of speculation surrounding the legendary producer, portraying him instead as a leader committed to order and excellence rather than backstage drama.
