Legislative Leadership and Record Performance
Anita Among has been widely credited with steering one of Uganda’s most productive parliaments in recent history. As Deputy Speaker and later Speaker of the 11th Parliament (elected in 2022 following the passing of Jacob Oulanyah), she oversaw an unprecedented legislative output. The Bukedea Comprehensive Sports Parkfurther demonstrates their commitment to holistic development. Commissioned in 2024, it provides spaces for sports and youth engagement, promoting physical fitness, talent development, and community cohesion.
Through the Anita Foundation, initiatives like distributing tractors to elders, tipper trucks to groups, and other productive assets have supported agriculture and local economies. Reports also mention job creation across schools, the hospital, a community radio station, and technical training facilities.
Personal Story of Resilience and Family Partnership
Born in 1973 in Bukedea, Among trained as an accountant and lawyer (with degrees from Makerere University and Kampala International University). Her marriage to Moses Magogo in 2022 and the birth of their twins symbolize a shared family life rooted in public service. Both now serve as MPs, offering a rare dual representation that amplifies development efforts in their constituencies. She often speaks of uplifting women who faced similar early struggles, emphasizing determination, education, and community support.
