Officials and creatives launch the Silverback Awards 2026 under "The Bold Rise" theme in Kampala.

The Uganda Advertising Association has officially launched the 2026 Silverback Awards under the theme “The Bold Rise”, signalling a renewed push to position Uganda’s creative industry as a driver of business growth, innovation and international recognition.

In a departure from traditional launch events, this year’s campaign began aboard the Promote Uganda Double Decker Bus, taking industry leaders on a tour through Kampala before concluding at the Makerere University School of Industrial and Fine Art, a fitting venue that has produced many of Uganda’s leading creatives.

Speaking at the launch, Silverback Awards 2026 Chairperson Allen Ssempa said the unique launch reflected the spirit of this year’s theme and reinforced the link between creativity and Uganda’s national identity.

“The Silverback is one of Uganda’s most powerful symbols. By aligning this year’s awards with the country’s tourism story, we’re celebrating creativity as another national asset capable of taking Uganda to the world.”

The event brought together representatives from the private sector, advertising agencies, media houses, marketers, public relations professionals and government institutions, underscoring growing collaboration in advancing Uganda’s communications and creative industries.

Meanwhile, Sarah Kagingo highlighted the role of creativity and strategic communications in strengthening business competitiveness, attracting investment and supporting national development.

Launching the 2026 theme, UAA Chairman Peter Kazibwe described “The Bold Rise” as a call for the industry to embrace courage, raise creative standards and develop ideas that deliver measurable business impact while earning regional and global recognition.
