Security agencies have arrested a 41 year old man in Gulu District over the killing of an 18 year old student, Martin Bukenya, in Wakiso District. Police say investigations into the February 14 incident, which shocked residents of Gombe Division, are still ongoing.
The fatal incident happened at about 8pm at the suspect’s home in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, within Nansana Municipality.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala, the suspect, identified as Musasizi Herbert, is currently in custody following his arrest outside Wakiso.
“The suspect is in our custody as investigations continue,” Kawala confirmed.
Preliminary findings suggest that Musasizi allegedly assaulted the teenager after reportedly finding him inside his house with his 14 year old daughter.
The deceased, a student at Hillside Secondary School, lived in Kirinyabigo, Kawanda, Nabweru Division in Wakiso District.
Police said the arrest followed coordinated operations by security agencies to trace and apprehend the suspect. He is expected to be transferred to the appropriate jurisdiction to face charges once investigations are concluded.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as detectives finalize inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the killing. They also assured the community that the matter will be handled in accordance with the law.
