Police in Mukono District have intensified investigations into the suspected murder of Tumwebaze Pamela, 46, the Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), who was found dead at her residence in Gwafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division.
According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of February 11, 2026, at around 2:00am at her home in Mukono District.
Preliminary findings indicate that at about 2:00am, the houseboy reportedly saw an unknown man inside Ms. Tumwebaze’s bedroom. The suspect was allegedly wearing the deceased’s jeans and stockings at the time.
Police say the suspect later fled the scene carrying a laptop bag belonging to Ms. Tumwebaze.
The houseboy and the children checked on her shortly after and found her unresponsive in bed. She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities have indicated that the case is being investigated as a suspected murder by strangulation.
In a statement, the Uganda Police Force confirmed that specialized task teams have been deployed to support investigations and operations aimed at identifying, tracing, and arresting the suspect.
Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal said investigations are ongoing and reaffirmed the force’s commitment to ensuring that the perpetrator is apprehended and brought to justice.
No arrests had been made by the time of publication.
UCU Mourns Senior Management Member
Uganda Christian University announced the tragic passing of Ms. Tumwebaze in an official statement, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Ms. Pamela Tumwebaze, the Director of Student Affairs and member of the Uganda Christian University Senior Management,” the university stated.
The institution added that she “went to be with the LORD in the early hours of Wednesday, February 11, 2026,” and called on the community to pray for her children, immediate family, and loved ones. Further details, including funeral arrangements, are expected to be communicated later.
Ms. Tumwebaze’s death has sent shockwaves through the UCU community and Mukono District at large. As Director of Student Affairs, she played a key role in student welfare, leadership development, and campus life.
Police investigations continue as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death and track down the suspect.
