Shock and grief have swept through Uganda’s digital creator community following the death of popular TikToker Diana Skyz, whose body was discovered on Wednesday morning at her rented apartment in Kampala’s Kyanja suburb.

Diana Skyz, widely admired online as a “slay queen” for her bold fashion sense, beauty content, and vibrant personality, was reportedly attacked late Tuesday night by unknown assailants who broke into her residence. Friends and neighbours say her lifeless body was found hours later, raising alarm and heartbreak among those close to her.

As at time of writing , investigators had not made any arrests. Police said further details would be shared once preliminary investigations and the post-mortem report are completed.

On social media, unverified claims have circulated suggesting possible robbery or revenge as motives behind the attack. However, authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as investigations continue.

Tributes have continued to flood TikTok, Instagram, and X, with fans and fellow creators remembering Diana Skyz as fearless, stylish, and unapologetically herself.

Her death has also reignited public debate around security in Kampala’s fast-growing residential suburbs. According to the Uganda Police Force Annual Crime Report 2024, overall reported crime declined by 4.1 percent compared to 2023. However, the report noted a worrying rise in homicides, robberies, and land-related disputes in certain areas.

During a vigil held in her honour, family members and friends revealed that Diana Skyz will be laid to rest on Friday. Mourners continue to gather to pay their respects as the investigation unfolds.

As Uganda awaits official findings, Diana Skyz’ death stands as a painful reminder of both the influence of digital creators in modern culture and the urgent need to address safety concerns affecting urban communities.
