Kyankwanzi Police Probe Deadly Hoima–Kiboga Road Crash That Killed Six in Fiery Head On Collision

Police in Kyankwanzi District have launched investigations into a fatal road crash that occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. along the Hoima–Kiboga Road, claiming six lives and leaving seven others injured.

According to preliminary reports, the crash involved two vehicles traveling in opposite directions an Isuzu bus registration number UBQ 595G and a Fuso Fighter truck registration number UBF 541C. The two vehicles collided head-on, triggering a fire that engulfed both vehicles shortly after impact.

Authorities confirmed that six people were pronounced dead at the scene. Four of the deceased were occupants of the Fuso Fighter truck, while two were traveling in the bus, including the driver.

Seven other victims sustained injuries in the crash and were rushed to a nearby health facility for medical attention. Their conditions had not yet been officially communicated by the time of publication.

Police officers and emergency responders arrived at the scene to contain the fire, evacuate victims, and manage traffic flow along the busy highway. The wreckage was later cleared to restore normal movement.

Investigators are working to establish the exact cause of the collision, including whether speeding, mechanical failure, or poor visibility in the early morning hours may have contributed to the accident.

The Hoima–Kiboga Road is a key transport corridor connecting several districts, and road safety concerns along the route have been raised in the past following similar incidents.

Police have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly during early morning hours, adhere to speed limits, and ensure vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on long journeys.

Further details are expected once investigations are complete and families of the deceased have been formally notified.
