2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week Set for Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

From 23–27 February 2026, the Southern African region will gather in one of the continent’s most iconic destinations for a defining moment in its energy transition journey. The 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week (#SEW) will take place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, bringing together policymakers, financiers, innovators, utilities, private sector leaders, and community representatives to shape a secure, clean, and inclusive energy future for Southern Africa.

Hosted by Southern African Development Community in collaboration with the Government of Zimbabwe and SACREEE, the 2026 edition of Sustainable Energy Week will convene at the prestigious Elephant Hills Hotel, overlooking the mighty Zambezi River and just moments from the world-renowned Victoria Falls.

A Defining Moment for Southern Africa’s Energy Future

Across Southern Africa, the demand for reliable and affordable energy continues to grow. Rapid urbanisation, expanding industries, and increasing access goals require bold investment and coordinated policy action. At the same time, the region is rich in renewable resources, from vast solar corridors and wind potential to hydro and emerging green hydrogen opportunities.

The 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week arrives at a critical time. It offers a high-level platform to accelerate:

  • Energy security and regional power integration

  • Renewable energy deployment at scale

  • Energy efficiency in industry and buildings

  • Off-grid and mini-grid solutions for rural communities

  • Private sector participation and green financing

By bringing decision-makers and implementers into one space, SEW 2026 aims to translate ambition into bankable projects and measurable outcomes.

Why Victoria Falls?

Few locations embody the power of natural energy quite like Victoria Falls. The roaring waters of the Zambezi serve as a powerful reminder of the region’s untapped renewable potential. Hosting SEW 2026 in Victoria Falls underscores Southern Africa’s commitment to harnessing its natural resources responsibly and sustainably.

The venue, Elephant Hills Hotel, provides an ideal setting for strategic dialogue, exhibitions, technical sessions, and high-level ministerial engagements. Surrounded by natural beauty and modern conference facilities, participants will have the space to network, collaborate, and innovate.

Inclusive energy means ensuring that rural communities, women entrepreneurs, and young innovators are part of the conversation. SEW 2026 will highlight community-driven solutions and capacity-building initiatives.

A Regional Effort with Global Relevance

Southern Africa’s energy transition is not occurring in isolation. The outcomes of SEW 2026 will resonate beyond the region, contributing to global climate commitments and sustainable development goals. By strengthening regional cooperation and aligning national energy strategies, SADC Member States are positioning themselves as active players in the global clean energy landscape.
