Pride Bank’s Global Award Win Signals Uganda’s Growing Influence in Financial Innovation

Pride Bank wins global award for Pride Care, boosting Uganda’s reputation in financial innovation and expanding access to inclusive insurance solutions.

Pride Bank Limited has secured global recognition after winning the Most Innovative Insurance Product – Pride Care Uganda 2026 at the Global Banking & Finance Awards 2026. The milestone not only highlights the bank’s expanding footprint in inclusive finance but also positions Uganda as an emerging hub for customer-driven financial innovation in Africa.

The award marks a significant achievement for Pride Bank, reinforcing its strategy of investing in accessible, impact-driven financial solutions. At a time when financial inclusion remains a key priority across the region, the recognition underscores the role of local institutions in designing products that respond directly to everyday challenges faced by communities.

By earning a place on the global stage, Pride Bank joins a growing list of African financial players gaining international attention for innovation, scalability, and social impact.

At the centre of this success is Pride Care, also known as Malayo ne Pride, an insurance solution built to make financial protection simple, affordable, and culturally relevant.

Unlike traditional insurance products, Pride Care is structured to fit seamlessly into the daily lives of Ugandans, particularly those in underserved and informal sectors. With a minimum balance requirement of UGX 100,000, customers gain access to coverage that helps them manage risks and build resilience.

The product reflects a shift in how financial services are being designed, moving away from complex, exclusive models toward inclusive, user-friendly solutions that resonate with real-life needs.

Pride Care’s success is also rooted in collaboration. The product has gained additional recognition through its partnership with Padre Pio Insurance Brokers, which won the Most Innovative Insurance Broker Award at the Insurance Innovation Awards 2025.

This dual recognition highlights the growing importance of partnerships in delivering scalable and impactful financial products. By combining expertise across banking and insurance, the initiative demonstrates how collaboration can unlock new value for customers.

Pride Bank’s approach goes beyond traditional banking. By integrating insurance into its financial ecosystem, the institution is actively expanding access to essential services for individuals and families who have historically been excluded.

As digital finance and customer-centric innovation continue to reshape the sector, products like Pride Care are setting new standards for accessibility and impact.

The recognition from the Global Banking & Finance Review Awards signals a broader shift, Uganda is gaining visibility as a source of practical, locally driven financial innovation.

Rather than importing solutions, institutions like Pride Bank are developing products rooted in local realities, making them more sustainable and scalable across similar markets in Africa.

According to Joseph Feeta, Business Head at Pride Bank, the product was designed with simplicity and relevance at its core, ensuring that more Ugandans can access meaningful financial protection without barriers.

Pride Bank’s global award win is more than a corporate milestone, it is a reflection of Uganda’s evolving financial landscape. As the bank continues to expand its reach and invest in customer-focused solutions, its success points to a future where locally developed innovations drive economic empowerment, strengthen communities, and position Uganda as a leader in inclusive finance across the region.
