Pressure24/7 Remanded to Luzira Over Hate Speech

Ugandan TikTok creator Pressure24/7, real name Ibrahim Musana, has been remanded to Luzira Prison following his recent court appearance, according to reports on March 11, 2026. The remand is in connection with charges of hate speech, unlawful access to personal data, and publishing private information.

Musana was arraigned—likely at City Hall Magistrates Court—and will remain in custody until March 26, 2026. The charges reportedly relate to content targeting high-profile figures, including Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni. Authorities allege that Musana unlawfully accessed and disseminated private information while spreading inflammatory content.

This latest remand adds to a series of legal issues tied to Musana’s online activity. In early 2024, he faced multiple arrests over alleged hate speech and offensive communications directed at the Kabaka of Buganda, President Museveni, and other senior officials. He spent several months in Luzira before being granted bail, promising to remove offending content, though his legal challenges persisted.

Pressure24/7 has become a notable and controversial figure on Ugandan social media, particularly TikTok, where his videos often engage politically sensitive topics. Supporters argue that these arrests reflect restrictions on free expression, while authorities maintain that the actions are necessary to curb incitement, defamation, and privacy violations.

The case highlights the growing tension in Uganda between social media influence and legal boundaries, particularly for content targeting government officials or traditional leaders. Court proceedings are ongoing, and further updates are expected as the March 26 mention date approaches.
