Ugandan make-up artist Zaina Kigenyi has secured her place in global record books after achieving a remarkable beauty milestone in Kampala. On April 7, 2025, the talented artist completed nine flawless lipstick applications in just 60 seconds earning her an official title from Guinness World Records for the “most lipstick applications in one minute.”
The achievement, confirmed and publicly announced in February 2026, surpassed the previous record of eight applications. But beyond speed, the challenge demanded precision, consistency, and technical mastery under intense time pressure.
According to Guinness guidelines, each application had to meet strict criteria. The lipstick had to be applied fully and evenly on different models, with no smudges or visible mistakes. The process required clean transitions between participants and shades, making coordination just as critical as artistry.
Zaina, known professionally online as @zynamakeup, is a respected figure within Uganda’s growing beauty and digital content community. She described the attempt as a carefully planned project rather than a spontaneous challenge. Preparation involved testing multiple lipstick brands to identify products that allowed for smooth, rapid application. She also assembled a team of models and rehearsed swift shade changes to ensure every second was used efficiently.
In reflections shared after the record attempt, Zaina emphasized the seriousness with which she approached the challenge organizing her team, refining her technique, and practicing repeatedly to eliminate hesitation. What unfolded during the 60-second countdown was not chaos, but a controlled demonstration of skill and preparation.
The record attempt generated excitement within Uganda’s creative industry, drawing praise from fellow artists, fans, and media personalities. When Guinness World Records formally announced the achievement, it highlighted the growing influence of African creatives on the global stage and celebrated Zaina’s performance as proof that “beauty truly has no limits.”
While Guinness features a wide array of unconventional categories, Zaina’s accomplishment stands out for blending speed with professional-level make-up artistry. Rather than a novelty stunt, her record required real-world cosmetic expertise and flawless execution.
For Uganda’s beauty sector and for aspiring creatives across the continent the milestone represents more than a statistic. It is a symbol of discipline, innovation, and the global recognition that can follow when talent meets preparation.
With her name now etched into Guinness history, Zaina Kigenyi has transformed a single minute into a career-defining moment and a proud achievement for Uganda’s creative community.
